What? Are you that dense? do you fear competition? Does walmart have any service business? They sell low priced items from China, mostly. What is your problem with Walmart? The only problem I have is the Idiots that work at the Redding store.

I think walmart is a great business model and they stand for free enterprise and capitalism, which you apparently do not. Big business is not evil, no mater what you and the Liberal brain dead drones like you may try to say.

I used to be an employee at the Redding Walmart. I'm glad that you won't shop there anymore. I won't either. Not because of the employees, but because while I worked there I was getting sick with a lot of other employees from what ever was in the store. Management pretty much shrugged me off. I had to try to find out myself what was making me sick. It wasn't just me, but also other employees who worked in my area of the store. I have a hunch what it was, but could not prove it because the manager was very good at hiding it. I wasn't allowed to go to the safety meetings. I was told not to talk about it to anyone by management. I had to go to the State of CA who in turn helped me. I don't think it's okay to treat the customers disrespectfully either. I wonder if the employees who do that are just trying not to lose their jobs. I know it's wrong. I wouldn't shop there either.

I'd like to say, I am a wal-mart employee... and not just a wal-mart employee but one that is also on CalWORKs like the last person was discussing. I do want to work and I happen to love my job. But then I work at the supercenter in Anderson and as an employee I have to say - it has nothing to do with how we're paid. We make the same wages, have the same opportunities and there is a difference between our store and the Redding store. Even I've noticed it. Our store is fun and happy to work at so mostly you get fun and happy employees. I love going to my job, love talking to my customers, and hope to continue seeing them. I don't let my bad days effect how I treat them - it's not their fault and usually a few laughs with a friendly customer cheers me right up. Of course I get customers that are pains, but they're there for five minutes and they're gone again... usually replaced by a nice and friendly one. So can't blame customers either...

I am in agreement with 'Just A Voice'. Why? I believe that the majority of employee's at Walmart and many, of the other stores like Walmart in Redding are hiring Welfare to Work, 5 Year Lifetime Limit, workers to get the Credit. These people CAN stay on the full pay plan of CalWorks instead of the TANF lower pay plan IF they cannot FIND and KEEP a job. They don't really want to work. So, they make theirselves as undesireable as possible to get fired. That way they can get back on the couch, with a guarenteed Check-In-The-Box for nothing.
I think that is the MAJORITY of the people's cases that are hired into places like Walmart, Target, Big-K, you get the picture.
I KNOW ALOT of people doing EXACTLY that. Being FORCED by CalWorks to go to job interviews, not wanting to, and getting hired by these companies that have a hiring agreement with Social Services across the US and bending over backwards to accomidate these people. They DON'T really want to have to work.
Then there are these elder and disabled workers at Walmart. The seniors HAVE to take these jobs in order to get extra specific Benefits. They HAVE TO.
Like the Grandparents Program in the Elementary Schools. THOSE seniors HAVE TO do that, in order to KEEP and GET specific Benefits.
The disabled workers at Walmart. They, many of them, WANT TO WORK at Walmart. Some have serious emotional/mental problems. I experienced one such disabled worker. I showed kindness and appreciation to one of these disabled workers at Walmart and could not RID myself of this disabled person. It was like having a leach attached to me.
Very pathetic. Very sad.
I find the Redding Walmart parking lot to be a very riskey place to park. In the 14 years of living in Redding, I have only had '1' incident with car vandalism and it was only at Redding Walmart. My rear view mirror was deliberately smashed out. That has never happened anywhere else, not even at SwineCo.
I LOVE the prices at WalMart and SwineCo. I just don't like to have to go there. It is painful to have to go there. I have changed to WalMart shopping ONLINE only. Can't take it. It's really hard to go into SwineCo. There's no other way to save a dollar. I HAVE TO go in to that aweful place.
CostCo is stupid. It is ALL BRAND NAME overpriced stuff. Not for me. Way too high. I like local products, or Generic. Like Value, Best, Western Family, Generic products.
Walmart is filthy. The bathrooms are smelly and filthy. The isles are trashed out. The clothes, shoes are all misplaced. Wrong sizes in wrong places.
Opened items sitting on shelves. Electronics area has gone straight downward spiriling down down down.
If you have an item that is not properly tagged at the checkout. The worker cannot make a decision, they have to call for a supervisor for everything. I found a artificial plastic piece of garland leaf after Christmas. It was on the floor. It had a partial tag. It was part of a 50% off clearance. The worker could not make a decision on the price. The piece was something you might find in a .50 Cent box at a thrift shop and this person could not make a simple decision as to just charge me a Buck or something. It was pathetic.
It is really sad that people that get jobs because they HAVE TO, don't want them. And I went on interviews for years trying my Damdest to get a job at one of these stores and could not because I was of no CREDIT Value to them to hire me. I never got a job at any of them and I tried hard to get one. I eventually got into the Postal Service. But, because I was not Welfare to Work or one of the Programs that gives Credit Money to one of these Companies, they did not want me.
There was a woman that worked at the SMART Center where I went day after day when I tried to get a job. She was NEWLY being Weaned off the Welfare. She had long passed her 5 year lifetime limit by about 10 extra years. She weighed about 300 lbs. She tried to get onto SSI (Supplemental Security Income), for people Disabled but have never worked a single day in their life. It now pays $888 an Individual. If you are head of household and have a spouse and minor children under age 18, they all get a check too. It is Welfare for the Disabled. There are more SSI's in Shasta County than SSDI and Social Security Retirement people. SSI is the largest Entitlement just under CalWorks and TANF.
She was so pissed off that she could not qualify for SSI and HAD TO work. she gave it her best try to make everyone miserable around her. The upper crust of the employees at the SMART Center practically Baby Fed this woman. Treating her with Kid Gloves. It was so sickening and pathetic.
Well, she FINALLY got what she wanted. She fell and filed suit against SMART Center. Eventually she got a lump sum check, bought a house, and lives to this day on SSI.

I completely agree that the Redding Wal-Mart customer service is horrible and a minimum wage paying job is no excuse. McDonalds workers and most other fast food places all pay min wage and are for the most part friendly like anyone in customer service should be. I was in line to return something at Wal-mart due to their suit against Mrs. Shrank that I did not agree with, and there were about 3 ladies working, 2 with customers, the other gabbing away with her friend that came into visit as I sat there in line pissed off wondering why people like her even have a job then after 5 mins of waiting she has the nerve to be rude as if I interrupted her conversation. Not saying that every worker there is rude, because I have ran into some really polite ones but yes the majority of them are not very personable and should paid to just sit at home because thats about the equivalent of what they do at work. My suggestion: Go to Raleys or Safeway where everyone seems to be in a better mood!

i have to say that ive only been to the Redding Walmart a few times, and yes they are less then well organized and after hours its is a mess. but with my experience thats how almost ALL Walmarts are. i live in Placerville and we have an absolutely HORRIBLE Walmart. the managers stand around doing absolutely nothing or gossiping. many of the employees are miserable do to the fact that they are hard worked and understaffed. they continually call "code 20" which means all floor people are to leave their area of work and go straight to being cashiers.. which would be fine except then the floor is empty and you cant get help for the life of you meanwhile the stupid managers are just watching! THEY WERE TRAINED IN ALL THE SAME JOBS. altho our store manager is amazing. he has always taken time out of his busy day to talk to anyone who needs him and he gets right out there with the other employees and helps with their jobs. ive even seen him pulling pallets out to help stock the shelves.

im not defending the work of those employees in Redding, but our Walmart closes at 10pm and ive been there when they do. its just as chaotic at our store only there are no costomers to deal with. which you must imagine would be hard for anyone who has to pull out large pallets and try to get around costomers so they can do their job too. they arent getting paid to stand around all night. its unfortunate that they lost your business but ive been to the Anderson store too and hey... its worth the extra 15 minutes. they have WAY more stuff. but at the same rate.. why dont you just go to Target.. its right across the street from the Redding Walmart. and how many times did you talk to managers or leave comment cards or comments on the website, and get your friends and family to do the same thing? you cant expect change if you dont do anything about it. altho i hear you should ABSOLUTELY not get your oil changed there.

I AM NOT AN EMPLOYEE OF ANY WALMART, but my fiance is. and i have to say that not all of them are bad. he is transfering to the Redding Walmart soon and hopefully he will be a department manager and shape at leaste some stuff up. he is the one who tells me everything wrong behind the scenes in that place. and me and my family write constantly to try to get things put right. we have already gotten a few people fired, one manager actually pushed me outta her way when i was 8 months pregnant and i fell into a display. needless to say.. she is no longer with them.

im just saying dont give up on everyone in Redding. i have always had a rather nice time visiting. yes i have had the occational run in with rude people but you cant let it bring you down. maybe you should greet the greeter sometime. maybe he just feels like no one cares about him saying hello, so he just stopped.

stay positive and good things will surely come :) and i hope your business is always a success

Hi justme.
Yes there are a lot of unhappy Wal-Mart customers out there.
As long as we keep buying the cheap Chinese crap that they sell, I am guilty of this as well, Walmart will need to hire anything that they can get to fill the demand for mentally and socially challenged employees who will work for a sub standard wage. There is a reason for these low level uncaring, dumb employees and illegal invaders working there giving attitude to the customers, which is anyone that is worth more than what Wal-Mart pays is already working at a good store.

I HATE Redding Walmart! I completely agree with you. I have had nothing but horrible experiences there, and anytime I ask an employee where anything is, they either don't know, and don't bother to help me find it, or they just completely ignore me. One day in September, I left my wallet at Dot.com in the back of the store. When i called Walmart when I got home and asked them if they had it, and woman put me on hold as she checked lost and found and came back and said "yes, it was left at dot.com". I asked her to hold onto it for me until the next day when I could come back and she said it would be in lost and found . The very next night I went back and the wallet was lost. I have talked to the manager NUMEROUS times and he doesn't even speak english about my wallet. And he said unless I find the receipt of who helped me at dot.com they can't verify that it was left there! My daughter's social security card was in there along with an ATM card, my ID and some cash. I have not been able to do anything about it since.. bottomline I HATE REDDING WALMART EMPLOYEES, THE STORE, AND THE MANAGER. horrible customer service. The worst i have EVER experienced.. i am glad that some people out there agree.

aaron, thanks for the comment, I knew that I could not be the only one that was treated this way at the Redding Wal-Mart, as I have seen them treat others the same way. I am not against the concept, in fact I also support Wal-Mart and appreciate having such a variety of merchandise at low prices, available whenever I want to shop, it's just that I won't shop at the Redding store any longer because of the way some of the employees act, like you stated above.

Have a good one!

I would first like to start by saying that I always support Wal-Mart when people call them the "evil empire" but I would have to agree with you that the Redding store leaves something to be desired. Why can't any of the greeters say hello or maybe even smile. When I ask a question I should not feel attacked for bothering them. As far as pay they get paid more or the same as any little local boutique. The difference is that the Redding Wal-Mart employees act like they are forced to be there and they hate you for coming in.

Hey Daniel, Thanks for the comment and the opportunity to teach you something.

First of all the uneducated and rude employees that I was talking about are being paid the same minimum wage or possibly more per hour than the employees at a lot of other stores that offer great customer service and have some of the same prices and products as walmart, like Target, Shopko, etc. and even the other Walmart which is a super center in my area. It just so happened that I needed something during the middle of the night, did not want to travel across town and they were the only ones open and close to my home. That said (AGAIN)

Now should I have to settle for some brain dead employee to treat me like crap just because I am shopping during the times when there is no proper management at the store? I would have to pay the same price if I went during the day when I would get better service and not pushed around by stockers? Walmart employees, for the most part, claim to be happy with their jobs so that said it seems that there is only one logical answer to your question to me "Do you really expect walmart to provide excellent quality service with the low wages they pay their employees?"

The answer is, of course, YES I Do. Just because of a few lazy employees that can't get another job, except maybe to work at a 7-11, or Mc Donalds, were not following walmart procedure and not treating customers with respect and courtesy does not mean that all Walmart employees do this because they are not happy because they are under paid, which is what you so ignorantly suggested. I am happy that you do not expect to be treated well when you shop somewhere but I and other self respecting hard working people do!

As for your insult about my sounding like a pouty 20 who is borderline ???? (Cant guess what you typed next) I think it is you who, if not a teenager, have the mental capacity of one, meaning that either you are young and are still learning how to interact with people, and how customers should be treated, or you are one of the idiots that work at Walmart during the night and have a guilt complex.

I work, pay taxes and vote, and I have walmart stock. I expect to be treated like a customer when I make a purchase anywhere and at any time, not like I am waiting in a welfare line for free soup to be given to me. Can you understand the difference Daniel?

Furthermore this is the USA and I have the right to freedom of speech and this is where I am airing my rant. I really don't care about your opinion or assessment of me as you do not pay my way in life and I doubt that you have anything intelligent to add to your comment, so bye bye.

You sound like a pouty 20 year old who is borderline emo....Do you really expect walmart to provide excellent quality service with the low wages they pay their employees? I don't expect it, therefore I am never dissapointed when I shop there. People go to walmart for the "Everyday low prices". If you want service go to a specialty store, not the bargain bin palace.

Thanks for your comment. However, based on my factual experiences with the Redding Wal-Mart, and not the Anderson Wal-Mart, I must reply on how different we view customer service.
This is where you might have confused the meaning of what a “JOB” is.
A job is not where you bring your personal tragedies to, or make a customer suffer for your bad day. I am not heartless, and I know we are all human beings and have personal tragedies as well as triumphs each and every day, but you do not bring it to work with you.
You are not being paid to involve the customers, of someone else’s business, with your personal short comings or tragedies in your daily life.
I do not visit the Wal-Mart to look at the employees and ponder what their life must be like. I go to a store to spend money that I earn from doing my own job.
I am just guessing that you might have some affiliation with an employee of Wal-Mart or you might be employed there yourself, either way I stated actual experiences that I, myself and friends of mine have had with the Redding Wal-Mart, and for you to state that, and I quote,
“I think the Redding Wal-Mart is very friendly and all of their employees do a fine job of performing their job.”
I don’t think that the employees at night treat customers like crap, I know they do. I have experienced it first hand! I would not be so bold as to state that “all of, and notice the correct spelling here, their employees do a good job” or a bad job. What are you basing your opinion on? the way you would treat someone’s customers? Or the way you would like to be treated by a store that you go to and spend your earned income at.
You need to treat the customer as you would want to be treated, and realize that the business only hired you to serve their customers needs so they can turn a profit. That’s all you are, a servant, to make the corporation money. If you want to be more than that, then open your own store, then you can treat your customers any way you want to.
ps. The reason Wal-Mart is so “successful” as you state it, is because they have cheap priced foreign goods and they cater to areas where it will sell the best. It’s NOT because of their excellent customer service! Come on get real and think here! Of course they will have to restock their shelves but if they don’t want customers in their way, at night, then don’t be open 24 hours, oh that would mean less jobs and hours for the mentally challenged employees that work graveyards there, right?
The Anderson Wal-Mart is open 24 hours and they don’t treat their customers poorly, and that’s what I meant by loosing business in Redding, not that Wal-Mart in general is loosing anything, just the slag’s at the Redding store are causing good customers, like myself, to shop in Anderson. After all, I like the cheap priced foreign goods too. (Sorry to say that)
That’s my spin on it.

I think the Redding WalMart is very friendly and all of thier employees do a fine job of performing thier job.
Customers need to consider that life isn't good for each and every one of them and everytime I go in there I look at several of those people and it goes through my mind what life might be for them. Redding WalMart is never going to loose my business.
I know that that store must be busy if you see all the boxes on the floor after 10:00PM. A store with less business than people think wouldn't be going through all the labor of restocking.
That store is fine along with all the other WalMarts. Have you ever been in the Grants Pass, Oregon Walmart? That store is slammed with business, those employees can hardly restock it as fast as it is needed. WalMart is Number One all the way anyway you look at it. The company is big because of suscess. Redding WalMart is just busy like the rest of them. Number one all the way walmart in my book. Great benifts and oppourtunty to move up.
