Lee, You are so right on most of your comment, but I have to disagree with your part stating that “if its white then in its heart lieS a kramer ass hole waiting to get out” This is not true. There are racists of all nationalities and origins, and there are some of us who accept all God’s people for who and what they are.
I personally rant about certain politicians and their policies, but I don’t comment on their Race as part of anything that caused me to disagree with them.
If you notice, most racists, no matter what their color, tend to be ignorant and not well educated. They might even be of a privileged background, or not, but they lack the ability to understand and accept any differences in people, and I don’t mean just in race, but any differences. Those are the people who tend to be the racists, in my opinion.
Hollywood gets away with too much and your point about “Had this been a republican Jesse Jackson would be asking for jail time” Is agreed.
Thanks for your great comment. Don’t get discouraged just remember there are a lot of good honest people out here it’s just that the crummy ones stand out a bit more.

It was an argument…meant to be hurtfull. In the background you hear him be called back a cracker a$$hole but thats not racism. It always leads to this. I have a battery of hateful words at my disposal for redheads and would not be called racist but if I try to hurt anyone of a different race or religion with words than Im racist…its truly tiresome…Guess my ethnicity,gender,sexual preference,religion….

if blacks can call us crackers and honkeys without any remorse then they should be called niggers the same way. If they are so upset about ethnic slurs you would think the black community would agree its not ok to use them against any ethnic group. There are probably more black racists then there are white ones (or atleast ones that are open about it), yet its ok for them to hate people that are not black.

First of all, to MARK: Screw You!! That was not entertaining! Pea brains like you give good white people a bad name. Second: HARLEY, go back to school and learn spelling and grammar before you open your mouth and let everyone know how stupid you are. Third: DON and HARLEY, Black people were KINGS in Africa with a thriving and INTELLIGENT civilization while us white people were struggling to find our way in Europe. We forcibly brought black people to the United States and took everything from them. Now, after we have built this country on the backs of slaves and ruined Africa with Apartheid, we want to tell them to stop complaining and go back to Africa to nothing! GIVE ME A BREAK!! i don’t know, i have watched both video’s several times, the act on stage and apology, something defintely went wrong with michael, what he said was not a good choice or even right but in a fit of anger and rage a lot of emotion can come out of a person, cotrolled and uncontrolled, i was not there for the whole incident and we are only seeing a part of what happened as it seems the video is edited somewhat, not continuous, theresa’s comments about an argument and it getting out of control is probably right, still does not excuse what he said and how he said it. i only give my opinion because after seeing the apology it does seem that he is upset himself about what happened and it does appear to be genuine. as hard as it is sometimes especially with all the racism that does exist in this world (it shows in some of the comments on this board it still does) most of us with any kind of heart or compassion and even a bit of intelligence can see this was not just simply an attack on afro/americans. this is an issue for michael to deal with now and hopefully he can find a way to make things right with himself, any issues he may have and others out there as well.

Even as a black woman,I have to say, I can see the argument on both sides. However, as an entertainer commenting on another entertainer, Mr. Richards should have been better prepared to handle a heckler; its a shame that he wasn’t astute enough in his craft to combat the heckler’s ignorance with humor. To some of the commenters here: interestingly enough, I can respect Mr. Richards, to a certain degree, because he had the balls to say what he said out in the open, but some of you are like the new age Klan; rather than cover your faces, you hide behind ‘anonymous’. If you truly believe what you said, use the name people identify you with, be proud.

when a person says that white people are very shallow and ignorant, that person is showing how shallow and ignorant he or she is. we are a nation of many colors, banded together with the same causes. what effects you effects me. many people of all colors say things without thinking. I myself have been guilty of this. nobody is perfect. but we must get by this and go on. for we are under a much greater threat, the threat of terrorism. there are people in this world that want us all dead and they will not stop unless we stick together. they dont care what color you are, only that you are an american. I see people, of all colors fighting and dieing to protect all of us. and when these young men and women of all colors are together fighting to protect us they bond together with one cause and that is to keep us safe from terrorism. so stay focused and stick together for we are all americans.

Tonij78, racism has been around a lot longer than anything the white man created. There has always been racism and there has always been slavery. Slavery still exists in this world but people seem to have closed their eyes to it. Children forced to work in extreme conditions in textile shops many dieing or dismembered before even becoming a teenager, young women forced into prostitution as early teenagers, even younger, even in places like Uganda where there are tribes who say a woman is equal to a cow and daughters are sold off to other tribes as wives for a few heads of cattle. As voice of reason says slaves were forcibly brought here from Africa, many of those who were brought here were sold into slavery by their own people. While it may have been forcibly, for the most part it was forced by the leaders of their tribes who were treating their own people as the same type of property the European’s treated them as. There is racism amongst all the different colors of people in this world including racism against people of the same color. Many people look around and see race as being of a different skin color, when what seems to be the fact is that people see themselves as their own race individually and everyone else is different and so they are able to make fun of or belittle everyone else because to them, they are different.
Michael Richards didn’t need to apologize to anyone except to the people he called those names, and then only if he truely felt he needed to. He doesn’t owe an entire race of people an apology, he called those people who had been talking throughout his routine those names, and they are the only ones he should be apologizing to, not to Jessie Jackson, not to Al Sharpton, and not to anyone else. Going about this the way he is will only keep adding fuel to this situation. If he just came out, said I apologize to the people I did this to and went home and ignored the media proding stick people would forget and it would all blow over. This will continue to be a hot button issue and get him publicity for as long as he is unwilling to let it go himself.

I am very disappointed in Michael Richards… I would never think that he has all that hatred in him… and if anyone can be so passionate when they are upset, to me it means that deep down inside they mean it… how sad that in 2006 we still have to be exposed to this…On the other hand the guy who was calling Michael a cracker is just as wrong….
