The supporters and local coordinators of Tea Party Patriots met for over 3 hours on Sunday evening evaluating the Cut, Cap, and Balance Act and whether or not we should change our position on no debt increase.  After examining all possible angles we decided to remain firm and continue to say no debt increase.

While we are in support of cutting spending now, capping the percentage of government spending as it relates to the gross domestic product, and balancing the budget, we do not support those items in exchange for a debt ceiling increase. America cannot afford to continue to spend more money than it brings in.  America cannot afford to borrow 44 cents of every dollar it spends.

Be prepared for the liberal ruling elite in Congress and the White House to up their attacks. They will say we are unreasonable, we do not understand the reality, and we are stubborn in our position.  We expect the attacks and will continue to stand firm in the face of them.

In 1917, Congress created the debt limit to control spending. Instead every time they “hit” the limit they’ve raised it. Like irresponsible teenagers they’re at it again for the 11th time in as many years.
